CHARCOAL, GRAPHITE AND A LOT OF OTHER THINGS ON PAPER
I have drawn with graphite and charcoal on paper long before l started painting. Drawing is a very intimate occupation that composes of a tight space between the face, the hand, the tool and the paper that lies horizontally on the table. Whereas painting is vertical and involves a lot of walking, looking from a distance and then, walking back to the canvas....

NO ONE BORDS LIFE AND AVOIDS TURBULENCE This is a series of 5 triptychs of which the centre panel is always a shipwreck. My father collects black and white photographs of shipwrecks, which I have incorporated into my work. The subject-matter of my work is the confrontation of culture with nature and visa versa, nature with culture. This series was scheduled to be exhibited end of June in the Wutong Museum Shanghai. Because of Covid19 it has been relocated to June 2021.
