 LUXURIA!
My show in 2019 with the title 'SIEBEN!' refers to the 7 deadly sins that I portrayed and exhibited in the chapel Maria Magdalena. Each painting has the name of one of the sins and is based on a historic artwork. In the case of LUXURIA it refers to the the work of Hans Holbein 'The Ambassadors'. In the bottom half of both paintings are a number of objects that represent knowledge and power. Especially the distorted scull in the Holbein painting is fascinating and playful, whereas the huge pre-Columbian mask in my painting is a symbol of strength and war. The mathematical instruments as well as the books are all placed beneath LUXURIA whereas in the Holbein painting the objects frame the ambassadors who pose rather stiffly. LUXURIA on the other hand is completely relaxed and superior.

BUILDING A BOOK 30 TIMES
I have been binding and restoring books since I went to school. This is the first time that I zigzag sowed the single pages together with my sowing machine. Worked like a dream...
These are all collages within the book 'TRANSIT' that are based on 9 station buildings beginning in Duisburg/Germany and traveling all the way to Beijing.
!AN ANIMATION OF A PROJECT OF MINE THAT WAS NEVER REALISED!
During the time I worked in Hamburg I was asked to conceptualise a three dimensional art work within the compounds of a large courtyard enclosed by buildings incorporating flats, offices, cafés, restaurants and a kindergarten. In cooperation with a secondary school teacher I was able to record school children listing the latin names of plants and animals according to Linnaeus.  My plan was to design a structure that had an elementary form of a tree. The ends of the branches were motion censored loudspeakers, from which sounded the children's voices listing the latin flora and fauna names. My idea was that the voices could be heard once a week at random.
I imagine that the big cities on our planet teem with life beneath the bricks and steel, the asphalt and cement......

A HALLUCINOGENIC TOPOGRAPHIE
A couple of years ago I decided to embark on another try at reading Dante's 'Divine Comedy'.
Suffice it to say that I failed to finish it again. However, I have collected enough material to start on a series of 9+1 paintings depicting various forms of rings. Dantes description of his inferno is so complicated, bizarre and exquisite that I have a suspicion there were some mushrooms involved, hence the title of the series.
A contemporary reference to Dante's inferno is a wonderful essay by Durs Grünbein 'Galileo vermisst Dantes Hölle'. Born 1265, Dante had whole artistic generations trying to reconstruct his inferno according to his writings, among others the great Sandro Botticelli. None of their depictions are convincing, and proves that writing is an art in itself and cannot be replicated one to one.
That is why I won't be painting his hell, but 9+1 rings of my own choosing painted on printed linen of all sorts of mathematical and other scientific diagrams.
